CAPS Program

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in collaboration with the NAHB Research Center, NAHB 50+ Housing Council and the AARP developed this program to address the growing number of consumers that will soon require these modifications.

As a “Certified Aging In Place” specialist we know that barrier-free living is an important and relevant concern for many clients including new home buyers, those who are down-sizing, rehabilitation specialists, occupational therapists, health care professionals and discharge planners.

As the American population looks to stay in their home throughout the ”golden years” many are beginning now to create barrier-free living for now and the future. “Baby Boomer's” tend to be healthier and more affluent than previous generations of similar age, and thus expect their homes to reflect their active, independent, and upscale lifestyles. “Aging in place,” means the reassurance of being able to call a house a home for a lifetime.

Barrier-free living helps ensure the pleasure of remaining in a familiar environment, the ability to enjoy familiar daily rituals and special events.
